Assisting them with daily tasks, listening to their stories, or simply giving your time and attention are all forms of ibadah (worship). 5. ​Disrespect is Considered Very Serious in Islam Respect towards the elderly is not just encouraged in Islam, but it is a divine command such that it can apply to the level of verbal and nonverbal expressions. Disrespect, in even the least formalities, such as raising one’s voice or being annoyed or annoyed looks, is condemned in Islam.
